William Faulker | When the Wrong Words Are on the Page
The blank stare of an empty page can cause even the boldest hearts to tremble. What in the world am I going to write?
And worse than an empty page, sometimes the words that find their way to the page are awkward, clunky, or not at all what you meant to write. How am I going to turn this into something presentable?
Despite the intimidation of drafting, Faulkner urges us to let the words come out, even in mangled forms. The only words beyond hope of improvement are words that never make it to the page.
